The technical terms may sound unfamiliar to a newcomer. To begin with it is important to understand what an air charter can do. Air charter operator or company provides professional charter services. They should have the required safety certificates and follow the security norms and rules. There is commuter operator that refers to a regional and planned airline. Commuter operators are only able to provide limited services as they have a few aircraft and crew available as compared to an air charter provider. Jet speed or aircraft speed is the normal speed that is measured when the aircraft is not on ground, climbing is over and the plane is en route. Another term that is commonly used is known as empty leg. Empty leg is also know as one way availability which means that great discounts are offered for round trip travel. Airway distance is the distance between two distances, after deviations needed by the air traffic control. A deadhead means to fly a trip without freight or passengers. The term originated during the early days when major flights started flying and deadhead was used to refer to people or couples allotted seats that were otherwise empty to show that the airline had major business volume. FBO or Fixed-base operator stands for a permanent location for vendor services. These vendor services include filling fuel, maintenance, getting flight instructions and aircraft sales. GADO or General Aviation District Office is a body of the FAA that is localized and studies the history of the air charter company.
