New Security Screening Rules for US Private Charters Author: Originated from Airline Industry Information
The US Transportation Department has announced a new rule that requires all private air charter passengers and their carry-on luggage to undergo security screening.
The legislation closes a loophole in aviation security which reportedly left private carriers vulnerable to possible hijacking or sabotage attempts. The new standard does not include a provision for screening checked baggage, however the Transportation Security Administration is planning to address this security issue at a later date.
The passenger and carry-on baggage screening of private charters will be conducted by the same security personnel who perform the job for public charters and commercial service at the 429 US airports, reported Reuters. Related Articles
