QUINCY, Mass. -- A group of air charter brokers formed a new trade group called the Air Charter Professionals Association (ACPA).

The nonprofit organization will define a set of standards and a code of ethical practices for air charter brokers that act as intermediaries between business travelers, freight shippers and certified operators of charter jets.

Founding ACPA member companies include Air Charter Team of Kansas City, Mo.; Air Partner of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Air Planning of North Reading, Mass.; Air Royale International of Los Angeles; Chapman Freeborn of Atlanta; and CharterAuction.com of Quincy, Mass.

To qualify for membership, charter brokers will need to demonstrate their experience within the industry by meeting two of the following three criteria:

* A company must book at least 10 trips per month.

* A company's principal has been involved in the air-charter industry for at least five years.

* A company has been in business for at least three years.
