Australian airlines Transjet Corporation and McKinlay Air Charter Company will merge their passenger airline businesses from 31 May.

Transjet is the parent company of the passenger carrier Transtate Airlines and operates services to Dunk, Brampton, Lizard Islands and also far north and western Queensland destinations. McKinlay currently operates public services as Macair Airlines between Cloncurry, Brisbane and Mt Isa.

Transjet managing director Randal McFarlane said that the merged business would be a very strong competitor in the North Queensland aviation market. The passenger services of both businesses will be integrated under Macair Airlines according to AsiaPulse.
