Montgomery Jet Charter Named Black Enterprise's 2002 Emerging Company of the Year Author: CAWilson
"I've always believed that man was not designed to make a living, but to live his making."
Ronald Mays, proprietor of Montgomery Jet Center in Montgomery, Alabama.
These are words to live by. Not only is Ronald Mays, 39, flying high after being named Black Enterprise’s 2002 Emerging Company of the Year, but he’s well on his way to expanding his jet charter company into a commercial airline, pursuing a dream stemming from a “passion for flying and want(ing) to fill a niche.”
Plane chartering and pilot staffing are just a few of the services the rapidly growing Montgomery Jet Center currently offers. If all goes well and with the help of his private investors, Mays hopes to shortly establish a commercial airline in the near future.
Current customers of the charter service include household names: Bishop T.D. Jakes, attorney Johnnie Cochran, and former president Bill Clinton.
"Only risk takers will get ahead," Mays said, reflecting on his strong will and desire to pursue something he’s always held dear to his heart. His mind is focused on the jet charter industry and the vision he has for its future. He continues his life-advice sermon by adding, “people go to work every day doing things they hate--choosing what you like to do as a career is a good thing."
